Greetings from the CAF
and Lee Hall!
This has been an exciting year for us.
We continue to stay busy gearing up for the University Capital Campaign
and, in particular, for the expansion and renovation of Lee Hall, the only
capital building program on campus. The architects have been selected -
partnering Clemson Firms of McMillan Pazdan Smith (Greenville, SC) and Thomas
Phifer & Partners (New York, NY); all of the approvals are completed and
construction should be underway by mid-2010.
This is fantastic news for the disciplines in Lee, as we are literally
bulging at the seams!! The total budget for the project, expansion and
renovation, is estimated at $31 million. This budget will be used for the
new building construction, the renovation of existing Lee Hall and site
improvements. The 60,000 ft² multi-use expansion and the totally
renovated existing Lee Hall will house all of our disciplines - architecture,
visual arts, construction science & management, city & regional
planning, landscape architecture, and the Pennell Center for Real Estate
Development. Watch for more information
later on a new Lee Hall-specific website now under construction.
Raising an estimated $31 million for the building project, taking care of the day-to-day business of the Foundation and trying to seek funding for the many School of Design + Building priorities has become a challenge. Joining our CAF and School of Design + Building development team is Daniel Bozard. Daniel has been in development at Clemson for several years working in another of the colleges. He has already been on the road and some have met him. He is a welcomed addition.
We continue to work
very hard to improve this website and other, new means of communicating with
you. Paper seems to be a thing of the past. Electronic
communications are the wave of the future. Just published via the
internet was our first Lee Hall Bullet
- with very positive responses. Please
take a moment after reading this to drop us a note (ladams@clemson.edu) with your current
e-mail address and more importantly, please let us know when it changes.
This past fiscal year the CAF continued its 50 plus years of philanthropy by
giving more financial support to the students and faculty of Lee Hall than ever
before. This happened only because of the generosity of our alumni and
friends (folks like you). For that we thank you. Please continue to
keep us in mind when planning your contributions for the year.
Sincerely and GO TIGERS!
