About Women's Leadership

Photo of studentThe Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Leadership at Clemson University combines rigorous academic study with real-world experience to provide women leaders with the skills, strength and resilience they need in today’s workplaces.

An innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum allows students to study women’s achievements in all facets of human endeavor and to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities women face. A core of leadership classes introduces students to key principles and helps them discover their own leadership style. Mentoring programs and a required internship allow students to put new strategies to the test, gain
valuable work experience and develop their leadership skills in diverse organizational settings.

The major is designed to work well as a stand alone major or as a second major. All students in the program will develop an individualized course of study tailored to their interests and career goals.

In addition to General Education requirements and 120 total hours, majors in Women’s Leadership must complete 33 hours of coursework in the
major, as follows:

  • 3 hours in either WS 1030 Women in Global Perspective or WS 3010 Intro to Women’s Studies
  • 9 hours total in Leadership, including WS 2300 Women and Leadership (3 hrs) and two elective leadership courses (6 hrs) from an approved list
