Lifeguarding Courses

*Clemson students, faculty, and staff should use their username and password for iROAR to login to register for Lifeguarding courses. 


American Red Cross Lifeguarding course sponsored by the Department of Campus Recreation.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Lifeguarding Training and First Aid certification as well as CPR/AED certification for the Professional Rescuer, all valid for 2 years. Participants must be at least 15 years of age to participate in the course. Course sessions will include lectures, activities, videos, hands on practice as well as water sessions (to include scenarios and hands on practice), and two final written exams.

Cost

$200 for university affiliates

$225 for others.


Register at the welcome center desk in Fike Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. All courses are pending until appropriate enrollment numbers are reached. Payment for all certification courses is non-refundable.

SPRING 2018:

February 23 (4:30-9 p.m.), 24 (9 a.m.–6 p.m), 25 (9:00 a.m.–6 p.m). The registration deadline is February 18.
March 9 (4:30-9 p.m.), 10 (9 a.m.–6 p.m), 11 (9:00 a.m.–6 p.m). The registration deadline is March 4.
April 27 (4:30-9 p.m.), 28 (9 a.m.–6 p.m), 29 (9:00 a.m.–6 p.m). The registration deadline is April 22.
May 25 (4:30-9 p.m.), 26 (9 a.m.–6 p.m), 27 (9:00 a.m.–6 p.m). The registration deadline is May 20.

All courses are full at this time. Check back for potential additional course dates. 

 

Upcoming Review Courses

*Only individuals with a CURRENT lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate may participate in a review course.


SPRING 2018

February 10 (9 a.m.–6 p.m.). The registration deadline is February 4.
March 31 (9 a.m.–6 p.m.). The registration deadline is April 25.
April 21 (9 a.m.–6 p.m.). The registration deadline is April 15.


The first half of the class will be located in the Fike Lounge, then class moves to the pool for aquatic skill practice and demonstration.


Course Prerequisites

Participants must be able to pass a prerequisite swimming and skills test on the first class meeting consisting of the following:


Attendance and Refunds

Course fees are non-refundable if the participant does not attend, does not demonstrate skill competency, or fails the written test.


Refunds will be given to registrants if they are unable to attend and request a refund a full 48 hours in advance. A processing fee may apply. To request a refund at least 48 hours in advance, e-mail: vrober1@clemson.edu  


All courses are pending until appropriate enrollment numbers are reached. If a class is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances participants have the option to be moved to another scheduled course or have a full refund issued.
