Athletic Trainers are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to return their patients back to full activity as quickly as possible. Through prevention, diagnosis and intervention of emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions, we are able to provide Clemson’s student body with orthopedic based healthcare that covers them from the gym and fields, to their dorms and classrooms.
Our goal in Campus Recreation is to keep the students participating in our programs in a safe and healthy manner. The services provided in the Athletic Training Room at Fike are open to all students free of charge to help minimize unnecessary costs and referrals. Our relationship with Redfern Health Center allows us to provide a thorough and efficient response to acute and chronic medical conditions with the appropriate referral to a sports medicine trained physician if needed. In addition to orthopedic injury evaluation and treatment, we provide concussion evaluation, management, and referral to the appropriate healthcare providers.
Clinical services are by appointment only, and are for those students who have a musculoskeletal injury that they would like to have evaluated and treated. Clinical services are great for students who may be transitioning from home to school and would like to continue physical rehabilitation; as well as for postoperative patients who may be seeking physical rehabilitation on campus.
(Beginning Aug. 20) Walk-in services will take place during Walk-in hours only. Any walk in’s outside of these hours will be required to make an appointment or come back during walk-in hours. This is for those students who are in need of an evaluation and/or referral for management of an orthopedic injury or illness. This time can also be used by students to ask the Athletic Trainers about health and nutrition questions, prevention of injury plans or post workout management care.
First Aid and Emergency services will be provided at any time during open hours.
A unique service to students is an Orthopedic Injury Clinic on Mondays and Thursdays offered at Redfern Health Center, available to all students who have paid the student health fee. Please call 864-656-1541, or stop in Redfern to make and appointment.
*All athletic training services are free to students. Costs may be associated with Orthopedic Injury Clinic visits at Redfern due to x-rays, bracing and further referrals, etc.*
