Please remember to bring comfortable walking shoes and your own water.

Congratulations on deciding to make physical activity a part of your life!

What is 10,000 Steps?

Its a simple and fun program to help you increase your physical activity. The average adult only takes about 3,000 steps/day but the average child takes 16,000-18,000! The goal of this program is to slowly increase the number of steps you take each day to give you a healthier life. It can be adapted to any lifestyle whether you are currently active or not.

How does it work? Using a pedometer, you will gradually work your way up to walking 10,000 steps a day. This will help you achieve the amount of physical activity recommended by the Surgeon General.

Who can participate? Any faculty or staff member of Clemson University. You do not have to be a member of the Fike Recreation Center to participate in this program.

What comes with the program? 10,000 Steps Program is a free program with access to our interactive website.

What are the benefits of walking 10,000 steps a day? Adding physical activity to your day can help to improve blood pressure and cholesterol levels and decrease the risk of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. It can also give you more energy and an improved mood.
