Advanced Plant Technology Program
The Advanced Plant Technology Program is an initiative that strives to improve crop production in South Carolina. Our team of over 20 interdisciplinary scientists conducts research on major cash crops, using traditional science and modern biotechnology. The non-biased, research-based information gained from this program serves to further agribusiness in our state and assist our growers in their farming activities. With an evolving list of practical goals, the Advanced Plant Technology Program will grow South Carolina's economy one field at time.

Clemson University Genomics Computational Lab (CUGCL)
The CUGCL produces high quality BAC libraries, cDNA libraries, and various types of shotgun libraries. The facility works with plant, animal and microbial genomes. CUGCL also provides fee-based services for robotics (colony picking, re-arraying, colony filter arrays, library storage and clone distribution), sequencing (cDNA, shotgun, BAC-end), physical mapping (BAC fingerprinting, marker hybridization), proteomics and lipidomics (mass spectroscopy, modification, hydrophobicity and shotgun proteomics), and functional genomics (labeling and hybridization, chip reading and statistical analyses).

Genetics and Biochemistry
The department of Genetics and Biochemistry is part of the College of Science. The department features active research programs in both human and animal genetics. Research areas include veterinary, developmental, diagnostic, epidemiological, and clinical human medical genetics.

Plant and Environmental Sciences
The department of Plant and Environmental Sciences (PES) is part of the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences. PES provides unified education, research, and public service programs that address public needs in agronomy, entomology, environmental sciences, horticulture and turfgrass, plant pathology, and soil and water sciences.
