Since 1963, this department has graduated more than 260 students. Clemson bioengineering alumni play a prominent role in research and industry. Alumni hold positions at companies such as Boston Scientific Medtronic, Medical Carbon Research, DePuy, Smith & Nephew, Medtronic, Synthes, Pfizer, Cook, the FDA and numerous academic institutions.

Each year, the bioengineering department welcomes its alumni back to the area for a one-day symposium on topics pertinent to the biomedical industry. This event corresponds with the annual Clemson homecoming football game.
Triple Clemson Graduate Named Honorary Professor
Dr. Perry Sprawls, a triple Clemson graduate (B.S., 1956, M.S., 1961, Ph.D., 1968), was recently invited to Xian, China, where he was honored for his work in advancing medical education at Xi’an Jiaotong University during the last 20 years. Dr. Sprawls, an engineer and medical scientist, is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Emory University. Read more.
