Xuejun Wen named Sigma Xi Researcher of the Year

The Sigma Xi Clemson chapter awarded Dr. Xuejun Wen the Junior Researcher Award, one of two 2009 Sigma Xi annual Researcher of the Year awards at the university.

Sigma Xi is the Scientific Research Society, an honor society founded in 1886 to recognize outstanding programs and service of scientists and engineers and to encourage interdisciplinary cooperation. The international organization is chapter-based, with over 500 chapters across a broad range of academic fields.

Wen received the award for his application of bioengineering to human tissue regeneration. In 2008, he received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award. The other Clemson researcher to receive a Sigma Xi award was Lesly Temesvari of biological sciences.
