ENTOX in the News: Happy Fish Go Hungry?

The research performed by Kristen Gaworecki on the effects of the antidepressant fluoxetine on hybrid striped was featured in Scientific American Magazine. You can read the full article at the American Scientific website.

Dr. Cindy Lee Awarded NSF Grant

The National Science Foundation has awarded a grant to Cindy M. Lee, Professor of Environmental Toxicology and Environmental Engineering & Earth Sciences. The three-year grant, which supports PhD student Kusumica Mitra in Environmental Toxicology, will fund research into how polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are cycled through a riparian food web. Lee’s research group uses enantioselective chromatography to track chiral PCBs in natural systems. The changes in the mirror images of the chiral congeners can shed light on the bio-processing of the PCBs by microbial communities in the sediments and by the metabolism of higher organisms in the food web. The group will collaborate with ecologist Dr. David M. Walters of the US Geological Survey.
