The State of South Carolina funds several scholarship programs for residents.
The Palmetto Fellows scholarship program provides awards ranging from $6,700 to $10,000 per year based on based on academic level and major. Application must be made through the student's high school to the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. The awards may be renewed for a total of 4 years (8 semesters) provided that minimum renewal requirements are met. See additional information regarding "enhancements" below.
The LIFE Scholarship program provides awards ranging from $5,000 to $7,500 per year based on based on academic level and major. No application is necessary as Clemson University will determine if each student qualifies. The awards may be received for a maximum of 4 years (8 semesters) from the date that a student first enters college provided that minimum renewal requirements are met. The LIFE Scholarship may be earned after initial college enrollment. See additional information regarding "enhancements" below.
The SC Hope Scholarship is a freshmen year only award valued at $2,800. Students who receive Hope during the freshman year may become eligible for the LIFE Scholarship during their sophomore, junior and senior years.
The Palmetto Fellows and LIFE Scholarships many be "enhanced" for higher values during the sophomore, junior and senior years if the recipient is enrolled in specific math and science related majors and completes specific coursework during the freshman year.
