Genetics and Biochemistry
Ph.D. Student Awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Cheryl Howell, a second year Biochemistry graduate student in the lab of Dr. Cheryl Ingram-Smith, was awarded the prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. The National Science Foundation offers 3-year graduate research fellowships (NSF GRF) to students in science, engineering, mathematics, technology, and some social sciences.
These are very prestigious awards. Drs. Lisa Benson (Engineering) and Julia Frugoli (Genetics & Biochemistry) again conducted a series of workshops last fall to help our students have a better understanding of how to prepare their application packages. We are excited to announce that this year 3 Clemson seniors and early graduate students won a NSF GRF and 5 more were named Honorable Mention.
