WELCOME THE 2009 SCHOLARS | Summer 2009

Williams elected president of new scholars program association | Summer 2009
NSP associate director Jamie Williams was elected president of the Undergraduate Scholars Program Administrators Association at its June 3-5 conference, hosted by the University of Texas at Dallas. Click here for the press release.
Second-year Scholar named 2009 Goldwater Scholar | Spring 2009
Second-year National Scholar and chemical engineering major Jennifer Moffitt is one of three Clemson students selected as a 2009 Goldwater Scholar, the nation's top award for undergraduates in science and engineering. Moffitt is the eighth National Scholar since 2002 to receive this award. Click here for the press release.
Clemson's National Scholar-led chapter of Habitat for Humanity named Campus Chapter of the Year | Summer 2008
Since 2003, a National Scholar has served as president of Clemson's chapter of Habitat for Humanity (in addition to several other offices). That chapter has been named the best college chapter in the country, thanks, in part, to the leadership and hard work of National Scholars. Katherine Chisholm, Laura Hart and Chelsea Reighard are past Habitat presidents, and Jessica Dean will serve as president during the 2008-2009 year. Click here for the press release.

Two Scholars named top CU graduates at May commencement | Spring 2008
Ryan Spurrier received the Norris Medal, presented to the best all-around graduating senior. This is the second consecutive year a National Scholar won the Norris. Stephen Lareau received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award; a Scholar also won this award in 2004. Click here for more information.

Eleven new students to join NSP in Fall | Spring 2008

Third-year Scholar named 2008 Goldwater Scholar | Spring 2008
Third-year Scholar and mechanical engineering major Shannon Edd was named a 2008 Goldwater Scholar, one of two recipients from Clemson this year. Edd is the seventh Scholar to receive the nation's highest award for engineering and science students since 2003. Click here for more information.

Second-year Scholar part of national ethics champs | Spring 2008
Second-year Scholar Rahul Loungani is part of the Clemson University Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl team that won the national championship in February. Click here for more information.


2006 grad receives two major recognitions in law school | Spring 2008
Brian Eyink, a 2006 economics graduate and current second year law student at Duke, recently won two significant recognitions. First, he was elected executive editor of the Duke Law Journal in early February. A week later, he won the Duke Dean's Cup Moot Court competition, arguing in front of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, Judge Jose Cabranes of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and Judge William Pauley of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
