Celebrating Ten Years!

Supporting Success...and Each Other

Volunteering Around The World | Meredith Myers, Summer 2008
Meredith spent several weeks in Lilongwe, Malawi, as part of New Wilmington Mission Conference, mentoring orphans and helping to build a new medical clinic. The NSP staff works closely with scholars to research and secure meaningful summer learning and work opportunities that will support their continued success and professional goals.

Learning from World Leaders

Throughout the year, National Scholars meet frequently with special campus visitors, including Presidential colloquium speakers, government officials, business leaders.

Supporting Success

GLOBAL ADVENTURES | 2009 Study abroad in the UK and Ireland
After climbing more than 600 steep steps, Scholars pause atop Skellig Michael, a remote 6th century monastic settlement off the southwest coast of Ireland in the north Atlantic. National Scholars may participate in a group study abroad experience during the summer after freshman year, focusing on British history.

Lifelong Friendships | The first Scholar marriage
Clarice Seifert (Scholar of 2001) and Matt Clemmens (Scholar of 2002) married on May 2, 2009, with several Scholar alumni in the ceremony and in attendance. Scholars form lifelong bonds and celebrate milestones and accomplishments after their time at Clemson ends.

Learning from Leaders
The National Scholars hosted award-winning author Dorothy Allison (Bastard Out of Carolina) for lunch in Fall 2009, during her visit to Clemson as part of the Women\'s Studies lecture series. Throughout the year, Scholars meet with campus visitors, including Presidential colloquium speakers, government officials, business leaders, and artists.
