Tyler leads the Clemson Online Curriculum & Instruction team in the development, delivery, and evaluation of online credit and noncredit curriculum. In this role, Tyler models and advocates for exemplary online course design practices by providing support to faculty for presenting, facilitating, and revising online course content. He plans and promotes instructional initiatives and projects that will have a positive impact on online instructional practices and foster exceptional student learning experiences.
Tyler has served in various roles as as instructor, course developer, and faculty mentor. He has held positions in Centers for Teaching Excellence (CTE), overseeing faculty development initiatives, course development, and administering institution learning management systems. He served as the director of the CTE at Southern Wesleyan University and the associate director of the CTE at Bainbridge State College within the University System of Georgia. Prior to these positions, he held various teaching and professional development positions in higher education institutions in Vietnam.
Tyler is currently pursuing his PhD in Educational Leadership with a focus on School Technology Leadership from the University of Kentucky. He holds an MBA from the University of Hawaii and a BA in English from California Baptist University. His research interests are in online learning support for faculty, open educational resources, universal design and accessibility, and experiences of international students in online programs.When not writing his dissertation, Tyler enjoys spending time with his family, perfecting his attempts at Vietnamese iced coffee, designing an escape room with his kids, and working on his dad joke repertoire.
