Cisco WebEx

Clemson University has implemented WebEx as a web/video conferencing system during the Fall 2017 semester. WebEx is part of our Cisco package and is one of Clemson University's supported web/video conferencing applications that provides the delivery of real-time video meeting and classroom space. image alt textWebEx offers various collaboration tools that can be customized to facilitate various lecture, training, and meeting situations. Meetings within WebEx can be recorded, and the enabled WebEx integration within instructor's courses in Canvas allow recordings to become available for students. A user only needs a web browser and an Internet connection to participate in these synchronous online sessions. A webcam is preferable but not needed. Attendees can also participate by phone, as a direct number is created for a session, along with a unique access code. Cisco has produced a WebEx app for both Apple and Android systems. There is also a WebEx Productivity Center App available for download that will allow users to launch meetings at any time.  WebEx allows anyone to create and join meetings easily, from both computers or mobile devices.

Within WebEx there are three main sessions a user can host:

  • Meetings: suitable for smaller group meetings or trainings
  • Events: suitable for large group webinars
  • Trainings: suitable for class sessions (similar to Adobe Connect)
