Mission
This department enforces state and federal animal health laws and regulations, and protects animal and public health through control of endemic, foreign, and emerging diseases. It coordinates animal emergency response planning for the state, addressing both natural and man made disasters.
What We Do
Animal Health Programs provide protection to the animal population as well as humans. This department is responsible for the enforcement of state and federal animal health laws and regulations designed to protect animal health. The programs regulate testing and movement of livestock and poultry, auction markets, sales, and all animal disease control programs in our state. These programs are under the guidance of the State Veterinarian and in coordination with the USDA, APHIS, and VS.
