Horse Judging Team
The horse judging program teaches students to evaluate horse conformation and performance at all levels and for multiple breed types. Students take AVS 309 (Equine Evaluation) in the spring and have the opportunity to represent Clemson University and attend National contests beginning that spring and continuing in the fall. Students on the Horse Judging Team gain much needed and useful experience in analytical and critical thinking, judgment, written and oral communication, and many of them go on to become professional judges for several breed associations.
The judging team has the opportunity to attend: APHA Spring sweepstakes (Fort Worth, Texas), All American Quarter Horse Congress (Columbus, Ohio), Quarter Horse World (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), NRHA Futurtiy (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), and US Arabian Nationals (Tulsa, Oklahoma).
