The Moran Lab is working in collaboration with Dr. Art Woods on an investigation into the Effects of Oxygen and Temperature on Egg Mass Function of Southern Ocean Marine Invertebrates. The goal of this project is to understand latitudinal variation in egg mass function as it relates to oxygen availability and temperature, especially in the low-temperature, high-oxygen conditions found at high latitudes. Our research primarily focuses on opisthobranchs and their egg masses. Much of our field-work will take place in McMurdo Sound, part of the Ross Sea, and most of our lab work will occur in the Crary laboratory at McMurdo Station. This season we will make several dive trips to collect adult animals for spawning and to search for naturally-laid nudibranch egg masses.
