In celebration of the Clemson University School of Architecture's centennial year, the Clemson Architectural Foundation (CAF) is hosting a special lecture series during the Fall 2013 semester. The series opened with a lecture by Michael Murphy of MASS Design Group. MASS is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization working demonstrate the ability to improve people's lives through design and to be an example for how designers can rethink their role in the world.

Dion Neutra is an architect, director of the Los Angeles-based Neutra Institute for Survival through Design, and son and former collaborator of Richard Neutra, whose practice he continued upon Richard Neutra's death in 1970. Dion graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, having also spent time at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Architecture program in Zurich. He now spends a significant part of his time concerned with the conservation of the Neutras' work, in the United States and internationally. Dion is author of the recently released book The Neutras, Then & Later Vol. 1, which is illustrated with photographs by Julius Shulman. The book is the first of 12 volumes documenting 400 projects and buildings by the Neutras. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. Learn more at www.neutra.org.
