5.28.08 - Drs. Ashton and Koon Honored
Dr. Susanna Ashton won the Provost's Award for Mentoring in Critical Inquiry and Dr. Bill Koon retired and was honored at the last university faculty meeting.

4.21.08 - Dr. Michael LeMahieu Wins Holman Award
Congratulations to Dr. Michael LeMahieu who recently won the Harriett R. Holman Annual Faculty Recognition Award! The guidelines for the award require that the recipient be "a tenure-track or tenured member in the department who has distinguished herself or himself in the classroom and in scholarly production." They further stipulate that "preference will be given to scholars who labor in Professor Holman's own academic fields, nineteenth-century American and British Literature, Children's Literature, and Southern Literature."
1.10.08 - Dr. Alma Bennett Receives Class of 1939 Award
On January 8, 2008, Dr. Alma Bennett, Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English, received the Class of 1939 Teaching Award in a ceremony held in the Carrillon Garden. Dr. Bennett is the 19th recipient of this award.

Professional Communication Position
The English Department seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor, beginning August 2008. The successful applicant will be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in professional and technical communication.
Areas of research specialization open, but preferred subfields include communication in the disciplines, writing pedagogy, or workplace communication. Successful candidate will contribute research, teaching, and service to our graduate and undergraduate programs.
American Renaissance Position
The English Department seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor, beginning August 2008. The successful applicant will be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the literature of the American Renaissance.
Areas of research specialization open, but preferred subfields include 19th-century American poetry, non-fiction, or diversity studies. Successful candidate will contribute research, teaching, and service to our graduate and undergraduate programs.
Ethnic Literature Position
The English Department seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor, beginning August 2008. The successful applicant will be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in ethnic American literature.
Areas of research specialization open, but preferred subfields include Asian American, Hispanic American, Native American, or others. Successful candidate will contribute research, teaching, and service to our graduate and undergraduate programs.
Poetry Position
The English Department seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor, beginning August 2008. The successful applicant will be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate creative writing courses in poetry.
Areas of research specialization open, but preferred subfields include fiction, creative nonfiction, or contemporary literature. Successful candidate will contribute research, teaching, and service to our graduate and undergraduate programs. Applicant with MFA or PhD will be considered.
