Dave EggersThis year's festival will feature author, educator, and publisher Dave Eggers. Dave Eggers, the critically acclaimed author of the bestselling memoir A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius (2000), which made him a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2001, and, most recently, What is the What: The Autobiography of Valentino Achak Deng (2006), will give a reading of his work Friday, March 7, at the Brooks Center for Performing Arts.

Eggers is also the founder of the independent publishing house McSweeney’s, and, in 2002, he opened 826 Valencia, a writing lab where he teaches high school students and runs a publishing program. Branches have also opened in Brooklyn, L.A., Seattle, Chicago, and Ann Arbor.
