did we lose part of our moral advantage by using incendiary
weapons against cities in WWII?
should DDT have been accepted as safe after the war?
if it were possible, would you eradicate certain insects (mosquitoes)?
prejudice against various peoples and how those continued

why wasn't poison gas used on the battlefield in WWII? Why wasn't
incendiary bombing of cities seen as worse than poison gas?
new kind of power over nature:
- we expect to be able to fix the problems nature gives us
- at first we think we can control natural problems,
sometimes we find we can, sometimes we can't
- lesson from WWII--technology will give us control over
nature quickly
