Areas of Study
Chronologically, the Clemson history department offers courses ranging from ancient Greece to the space program. Geographically, it spans the history of North and South America, Western Europe, Russia, Africa, the Middle East, and East Asia. Topically, it covers the history of science and technology, women, the family and sexuality, law and warfare, as well as more traditional political and cultural issues. The department has a special strength in the history of the American South, African-American history, the Civil War and Reconstruction, railroads and European social and cultural history.
