Each spring semester the department offers several awards, including the Ernest M. Lander, Jr. Award for Excellence in Graduate Studies, the Charles Julian Bethea Annual Student Scholarship, and the Society of Colonial Dames Award in American History. The award committee consists of the department’s Graduate Committee. All students who have completed 12 hours of graduate work in history are eligible.
