Guide to Graduate Study in History

I. General Information

Graduate study in history follows the regulations adopted by the Graduate School as set forth in the Clemson University Graduate School Announcements, published each academic year. The book of Announcements describes admissions procedures and requirements, academic regulations, and degree requirements of the Graduate School. It also contains a brief description of the program requirements for the M.A. degree in history.

This “Guide to Graduate Study in History at Clemson University” discusses the specific regulations and procedures of the Department of History within the context of the Graduate School. The “Guide” does not supersede or abrogate any regulations of the Graduate School. Students and advisors in the department should familiarize themselves not only with departmental procedures, as described in the “Guide,” but also with the Graduate School regulations, as set forth in the Announcements.

Regulations and procedures contained in the “Guide” will not be applied retroactively. Candidates for the M.A. in history may continue to work towards the degree according to the regulations in force when they were admitted to the program.
