The Master of Arts in History
Clemson University offers master's-level study in history under a faculty with extraordinarily strong scholarly credentials. In a department of this quality, faculty attention is normally concentrated on doctoral students. However, at Clemson, where there is no doctoral program in history, our focus is on our master's degree students.

The history department prides itself on the personal attention it affords graduate students. More than 20 faculty members in a wide variety of fields are available to teach and supervise the approximately 35 students enrolled in the program. Students work closely with faculty members to design flexible programs of study and research that meet their personal needs. The small size of classes and seminars encourages close contact with faculty members and helps history graduate students develop research, writing, and analytical skills.

The rapport between students and faculty is unique. The accessibility of the faculty gives students the opportunity to discuss course work, thesis design and research, future career plans and intellectual concerns. The small size of the program also helps foster a close-knit community among the graduate students. For a list of recently completed graduate theses, click here.
