Edwin E. Moise
Receives Outstanding Research
Award
Vietnam historian Ed Moise was one of two faculty members
to receive the Outstanding Research Award presented May 9 by
the Clemson Alumni
Association during a general faculty meeting.
Moise and V. Sridharan, a management
professor, will split the $2,500 award.
The history department
peers who nominated Moise for the award cited his stature as
one of the country’s authorities on the Vietnam War.
His books on the subject include Tonkin Gulf and the Escalation
of the Vietnam War and Historical
Dictionary of the Vietnam War. He also maintains a bibliographic Web site that
is considered one of the best anywhere, and includes 3,000 items in several
languages.
Plans are being made to base a film on his book
about the Tonkin Gulf.
Moise is an authority on 20th century Chinese history as well.
His books include Modern China: A History and Land Reform in
China and North Vietnam: Consolidating
the Revolution at the Village Level.
Clemson’s Alumni Association presents this award annually to a faculty
member who demonstrates outstanding ability and commitment to research. |
