Original Harden Hall

Welcome to the Department of Philosophy and Religion. The department currently consists of eighteen faculty members covering a range of specialties and close to 80 students majoring in philosophy. We offer undergraduate programs leading to the B.A. degree with three distinct areas of emphasis:

We also offer minors in both Philosophy and Religion.

We are located in 126D Hardin Hall. Although Hardin is the oldest academic building on Clemson's campus, a major restoration effort completed in 2002 has made it one of the most technologically advanced classroom buildings on campus. Click here to see our location on the campus map.

Congratulations to our majors who are headed to law school in the fall: Jonathan Altstadter (Notre Dame), Nick Barry (Louisiana State), Ronnie Fields (Univ. of Colorado, Boulder), Doug Margison (Harvard), Michael Mattheiss (Harvard), and Brittany Pifer (Stanford). Congratulations also to John McCrary, who will be attending Tufts in the fall to pursue an MA in Philosophy, and to Brad Saad, who just finished up an MA in philosophy at Brown and is headed to Univ. of Texas at Austin for his Ph.D.
