Growing up on a small family farming and becoming active in my high school’s FFA chapter I knew agriculture was going to be a big part of my future. I saw myself never being a part of any other industry. I got the opportunity to attend the Commissioners School for Agriculture at Clemson University as a rising junior in high school. I never would have imagined the impact of this opportunity I was given at 16 years old. Being able to network with other students that also had a passion for agriculture made me feel connected. The week opened my eyes to South Carolina’s agriculture industry with farm tours, hands-on learning labs, and being able to hear from all types of agriculturalists. The week also focused on Clemson University’s agricultural programs. The connection I made with the people at SCCSA and Clemson made a big impact on my college decision. I am currently a junior at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Mechanization and Business. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I had at SCCSA and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it.
