The Office of Campus Recreation, featuring the Swann Fitness Center, relies on student employees to fill a number of positions throughout the year for the programs and services we offer. There are also internships available for students who have an interest in recreation, fitness, business administration, and marketing. Campus Recreation employs over 200 part-time student employees during the school year. We also have positions available for students in the work study program (must apply through the work study office here: http://www.clemson.edu/financial-aid/).

There are many opportunities for students to gain practical experience in business within Campus Recreation. Below are the areas of Campus Recreation that provide office positions.
Scheduling: The Scheduling Assistant is primarily responsible for handling all reservation requests and scheduling of Campus Recreation spaces within and around Fike Recreation Center, the Underground, and Campus Beach and Recreation Area. Strong organizational and communication skills are required. Some level of event planning preferred.
The Club Sports Program offers student opportunities for employment through Club Sport Manager positions. They will provide on-site supervision to club sport activities, including practices and competitions. Club sport managers will act as first-responders to emergency situations and also serve as the liaison between the University and visiting club teams. They may also have an opportunity to assist with administrative work through office hours as well. Students with leadership or team experience are encouraged to apply!
Welcome Center employees are typically the first point of contact for Campus Recreation participants. Students at the Welcome Center are expected to have outstanding customer service skills, particularly in the area of communication. Answering telephones and responding professionally to emails are daily responsibilities. The Welcome Center handles all membership, locker and towel sales, as well as all registrations. Welcome Center Assistants must also monitor access to Fike Recreation Center.
The Fitness staff is made up of energetic and encouraging students who have a passion for leading others to establish and maintain healthy lifestyles. Group fitness classes, personal training sessions, and fitness assessments are all led by trained and certified Clemson University students. Clemson Fitness is always looking for enthusiastic students willing to take the next step in fitness leadership and who have the desire to learn life-long leadership and communication skills.

The Intramural Sports program serves over 5,000 Clemson students annually. All of our sports and events are led by student employees who work as managers and sport officials on a nightly basis. No previous experience is needed for students who wish to gain employment as a sport official. Training clinics are held throughout each semester to prepare you for a job in which you can gain practical skills such as working in a team setting, conflict management, and communication. Operations staff are responsible for the day-to-day oversight of open recreation activities within Fike Recreation Center. Staff patrol the building enforcing Campus Recreation policies and procedures, straightening and disinfecting weights and equipment, as well as, monitoring facilities to maintain safe recreation surroundings. Applicants for the Operations position should be hard-working, independent students who require little direction and thrive in a hands-on work environment.
Clemson Outdoor Recreation and Education (CORE) has many great opportunities for Clemson University students as both participants and leaders of our outdoor adventure trip program. All of our adventure trips are led by Clemson University students who receive life-long leadership and communication skills through outdoor recreation trainings and adventure trip leading experience. CORE is always looking for friendly and responsible trip leaders who are enthusiastic about gaining valuable experiences through outdoor leadership opportunities. CORE has additional opportunities for students to work as equipment rental specialist with our outdoor rental center located at the Campus Beach. Equipment rental specialist provide information on local outdoor recreation opportunities, repair outdoor equipment and process equipment rental transactions.
Maintenance staff ensure that Fike Recreation Center and the Outdoor Fitness and Recreation Center are running safely and smoothly for our patrons. They report to the Maintenace Manager and will gain experience in maintenance and facility operations.
