Q:

Why is the university making this change?

A:

Clemson University is the only Higher Education institution in South Carolina to still pay all employees bi-weekly. Changing to semi-monthly will eliminate two payroll processing cycles annually, impacting all payroll processors across campus, as well as costs and efforts associated with the processing. During the transition, we will create one payroll process for all 12 month employees, further streamlining processing. We will also eliminate costs and efforts associated with special fiscal year-end processing. Additionally, the change will allow for a month-end cut-off for sponsored grants and contracts. For 9 month faculty and students, the change will allow for a standard pay date at the start and end of each semester, instead of dates that change based on the bi-weekly schedule.
