My job duties have not changed, so why is my FLSA status changing to nonexempt?


Recently the Office of Human Resources (OHR) worked with the University’s employees and supervisors to update position descriptions. The project was completed in 2015. Upon the U.S. Department of Labor’s Final Rule on the Fair Labor Standards Act announced on May 18, 2016, OHR initiated a thorough review of all employees’ position descriptions that had been finalized in 2015. OHR worked with external labor attorneys specializing in FLSA compliance to determine each employee’s FLSA status as it relates to FLSA thresholds.
