CREATE YOUR FUTURE

Clemson Visual Arts is a creative community of artists, designers and art historians who to provide intellectually vigorous, innovative, and future-focused activities and research for our students, university, and community. Students learn "hands-on" in collaborative and cutting-edge art and design studios, art history courses, gallery programming, and community initiatives. Our foundation is learning to “see” as an artist and creating positive change through creative and critical problem-solving. With the opportunity to act as a sole practitioner, a team member, and a dynamic leader, our students develop the flexible and resilient skills needed as a launchpad for a multitude of creative careers.

Art and design have thrived at Clemson since the founding of the university. Today, over 130 undergraduate majors, 12-15 graduate students, and hundreds of art minor and general education students join us in our interdisciplinary and innovative visual arts programs. Our program is small enough to allow the close interaction and free exchange of ideas vital to artistic development - with typically 12-15 students enrolled in studio courses, individual, hands-on instruction is our priority. You'll be immersed in a rigorous course of study that includes studio practice, conceptual development and art history. Our students work and learn in well-equipped studio facilities in ceramics, digital arts media, drawing, foundations design, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. We have unique, experiential learning offerings in our Creative Inquiry and study abroad programs, and we support our students' career interests through internships and work experiences that enhance their professional practices. Our alumni achieve advanced degrees in visual art, art therapy, arts management, animation, and art education, or work as educators, art directors, designers and entrepreneurs.
