South Carolina State University

South Carolina State University (SCSU) was founded 1896 as the state's sole public college for black youth. This land-grant college has a mission of providing education and service to the citizens of the state. The 360-acre campus is in Orangeburg, S.C.

SCSU offers several programs that are unique in the state and the nation. In 1998, the University was named by the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Department of Transportation as one of 33 University Transportation Centers in the nation, the only one in South Carolina.

SCSU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor's, master's, specialist and doctoral degrees. The University has an enrollment of almost 5,000 men and women majoring in nearly 60 degree programs.
