Department of Public Health Sciences

Cardiovascular Imaging Leadership (CVT) concentration

About the Program:

Clemson's Department of Public Health Sciences has introduced a new undergraduate degree concentration entitled Cardiovascular Imaging Leadership that is offered in collaboration with the Greenville Hospital System/University Medical Center.

We are excited about this unique concentration!  Most cardiovascular technical sonography programs today are housed in technical colleges and offer only the technical training necessary to pass the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) exam.  Our program will not only give students the technical training in vascular ultrasonography and adult echocardiography, but will also empower them with a strong foundation in public health sciences. This combination will prepare students to sit for the ARDMS exam upon graduation to earn certification as a cardiovascular sonographer and enter the work force with a higher level of understanding of disease process and hospital management.

Goals of this Concentration:

  • Address the growing need for graduates highly trained for leadership roles in cardiovascular imaging with public health and administration backgrounds.
  • Produce graduates who can demonstrate the capacity to function as statewide and national leaders in the growing healthcare field.
  • Provide a strong science and technical background that will emphasize public health, health behavior, and health administration.
  • Prepare students to sit for the ARDMS exams and enter the work field as entry level cardiovascular sonographer after graduation.

Concentration Requirements:

Students accepted into this concentration will take between 120-128 credit hours of coursework.
