Grant Description

USDA Pest Management Alternatives Research Program (PMAP) - This competitive grants program funds projects for up to three years. It supports efforts to modify existing pest management approaches or develop new methods that address needs created by the implementation of FQPA and related regulatory actions.

CSREES will provide funding for projects that:
  1. Adapt technological approaches to IPM for pre- and post- harvest use.
  2. Adapt and demonstrate IPM tactics using alternative technologies.
  3. Describe and demonstrate how tactics can be economically and practically integrated into production systems for individual crops.
Proposals that include combinations of the three objectives will also be considered. Funded projects must focus on outreach or technology with an outreach component.

Approximately $1.4 million should be available for 2004. This year RFA's will be divided up by regions; however, projects will still be competing nationally for funding.
