EDUCATION Dr. Skaar has over 20 years of experience in the Ceramic and Materials Engineering field, including 16 years in his current position as a faculty member of the Gilbert C. Robinson Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Clemson University. He has served for two years as a staff scientist at Gould Inc. and two years as a senior experimental ceramist at General Motors Corporation. Dr. Skaar holds B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Ceramic and Materials Engineering from Alfred University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology respectively. EXPERIENCE 1982 to present Clemson University. Clemson. South Carolina. Associate Professor (1989 to present). Materials Science and Engineering Department. Assistant Professor (1982 to 1989). Materials Science and Engineering Department. 1979 to 1981 Gould Incorporated, Gould Laboratories, Cleveland, Ohio. Staff scientist. Managed the Corporate Ceramic Research Laboratory. 1974 to 1977 General Motors Corporation - AC Sparkplug Division. Flint, Michigan. Senior Experimental Ceramist. Completed research and development on exhaust oxygen sensors. 1971 to 1973 U.S. Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center. Watertown, Massachusetts.
