  • Green is Good for Business Conference:  September 1, 2009

    Lexington County staff presented information about the County’s “green” programs at the Green is Good for Business Conference at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.  Debbie Summers, Lexington County Council Chair, spoke on the welcome panel for conference attendees. Information on the County’s stormwater, air quality, recycling and landscaping programs was on display in the exhibit hall. Immediately following the conference, the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce held its 'business after hours' in the exhibit hall. The County’s exhibit was seen by over 300 conference attendees and another 130 people during the afterhours event.

    Old gasoline powered lawnmowers were traded in for a discount on a new electric mower.

  • Career Day Visits in April '09

    Synithia Williams, Lexington County Environmental Coordinator and Randy Edwards, Lexington County Engineer visited two local schools in April for Career Day.  During the visits they spoke about the work they do to keep local waterways clean.  The kids were educated on stormwater runoff, properly disposing of pet waste and ways they can become involved in environmental careers.
