SYNOPSIS: Grants are made to selected academic institutions to support the independent research of outstanding individuals who are in the first or second year of their first appointment at the assistant professor level, and whose current appointment is a tenure-track position.

Title: Grants Program

SYNOPSIS: The sponsor provides grants for groups building a family farm system of agriculture. Grants range from $1,000 to $40,000, with most from $3,000 to 7,500.

Environmental Protection Agency

Title: Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention (CEPP) Technical Assistance Grants Program (Region 7)

SYNOPSIS:  The sponsor is soliciting proposals for which undertake the implementation of the chemical accident prevention, preparedness, and response requirements under Sections 112(r) of the Clean Air Act (CAA). While this year’s grant program will primarily fund projects addressing prevention program implementation and emergency coordination with emergency responders, Region 7 continues to support other local efforts by providing guidance, technical assistance, and training.

Title: Strategic Agricultural Initiative Supplemental Grant Program to Foster Transition: FY 2007 Request for Proposals (Region 3)

SYNOPSIS:  The sponsor is soliciting proposals to help implement the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA) and foster transition by the agricultural community to the use of less and reduced risk pesticides, alternative methods of pest control and sustainable practices in food production.  Proposals must promote past successful Strategic Agricultural Initiative (SAI) projects found in the SAI Database to the grower community within Region III.

Title: Instrument Development for Biological Research (IDBR)

SYNOPSIS:  The Instrument Development for Biological Research (IDBR) Program supports the development of novel instrumentation or instrumentation that has been significantly improved by at least an order of magnitude or more in fundamental aspects.  Supported instruments are expected to have a significant impact on the study of biological systems at any level. The development of new instrumentation must be firmly based in biological research need. <S2S>

Food & Drug Administration

Title: Investigations Focused on Promoting the Safety of Produce

SYNOPSIS:  The sponsor is announcing the availability of  approximately $1.0 million in research funds for fiscal year (FY) 2008. These funds will be used to support research efforts to advance the safe transportation and preparation of produce and to help reduce the incidence of foodborne illness that may be associated with fresh produce consumption.
