Janet GH Marsh (BS, Purdue; MSW, Indiana; MA, Ph.D., Chicago) is a research associate professor. Throughout her 30-year career, her major interest has been improving policies and programs that affect families with low incomes. Prof. Marsh’s work focuses on the role of government public assistance programs in contributing to the well-being of families with low incomes. Currently, Prof. Marsh works in the area of child care and early education, seeking improvements to these programs in South Carolina.

Before joining the Institute, Prof. Marsh was research associate/ associate professor in social welfare policy at the Strom Thurmond Institute at Clemson University. Her previous experience includes serving as assistant professor in the School of Social Work, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and as a consultant to government and non-profit organizations.
