Patricia Stone Motes (BS, South Carolina State; PhD, University of South Carolina) is a research professor. She coordinates and supervises the mental health programs in Strong Families, and she assists Building Dreams sites outside the Upstate. Pursuant to a grant program in the Arnold School of Public Health at USC, she continues to work with an Orangeburg-area coalition to eliminate health disparities. A clinical-community psychologist, Prof. Motes was formerly associate director and director of student affairs in the Institute for Families in Society at USC, where she also worked on the development and delivery of school-based mental health services. Prof. Motes began her post-doctoral career at South Carolina State, where she taught in the Department of Psychology and Sociology. Her publications include a co-edited book, Collaborating with Community-Based Organizations Through Consultation and Technical Assistance (Columbia University Press).
