About the Equine Center

The purpose of the Clemson University Equine Center (CUEC) is to support equine teaching, extension and research efforts synergistically. The CUEC provides a “real-world” experience for Animal and Veterinary Sciences students focusing on pre-veterinary and equine business courses. Students have the opportunity to perform hands-on activities to prepare them for a career in the equine industry. The CUEC also serves as the equine physiology graduate laboratory, focusing on applied reproduction, exercise science, nutrition and management research questions. Outreach programs are held at the Center to serve SC constituents to further educate and promote our State’s horse industry.

The Equine Center maintains a sizeable herd of Quarter Horses, Paints, and Thoroughbreds.  These horses support the teaching, research, and extension mission.  CUEC sales offer young stock as well as select riding horses and broodmares for public consideration.
