FIRST FRIDAY GARDEN WALK
Meet with Dr. David Bradshaw for an
unforgettable tour of the Garden. Walks are offered the first Friday of
every month, but no two outings are ever the same.

FAMILY NATURE NIGHT: GNOME HOMES, FAIRY HOUSES & ANIMAL ABODES
Create miniature dwellings to lure miniature creatures! Enjoy a story
and micro-hike and gather natural building materials from the Gnome
Depot. Feel free to bring natural items from home too. Enjoy coming back
to the garden to find evidence of the creatures who have visited the
village and to add new structures!
Fee: $4 per participant ($3 members and volunteers)

MONARCH MAGIC
Monarch
Butterflies are in trouble and they need YOU! Discover the amazing lives
of these beautiful insects, the incredible journey they make every
year, and how you can help them. Butterfly games and activities will
engage the youngest of visitors. Take a walk in the new butterfly garden
to search for eggs, caterpillars, pupae and adults of the many
butterflies which make South Carolina home. Take home a free milkweed
plant to start your own Monarch way-station and butterfly garden.

CREATE A SAND -CAST BIRD BATH
Make
a beautiful birdbath for your feathered garden visitors. Spend a
relaxing and creative morning in the Garden playing in sand and concrete
to permanently capture the ephemeral beauty of your chosen leaf.

MAKING SCENTS OF INSECTS
Celebrate National Pollinator Week by taking a close-up look at bees,
butterflies and more on a garden insect investigation. We’ll discover
the amazing adaptations of insects and the valuable roles they play in
our lives. Paint your own pot and plant a flower to attract pollinators
to your backyard!
Must register at least 3 days in advance.
Fee: $7 per participant ($6 members and volunteers)

back into the nineteenth century as you enter the historic Hunt Cabin.
Join Garden educator Sue Watts and a variety of visiting craftspeople to

coolness inside the cabin, listen to tall tales and folk tales, and
experience some of the chores and entertainments of the past.

INDIGO: A PLANT TO DYE FOR.
The
graceful leaves of the indigo plant are the source of a highly prized
rich blue dye, a dye which was a cultural keystone plants of South
Carolinas' 18th Century economic development. Join Dr. Karen Hall,
Clemson Extension Associate Professor and' Coordinator of the SC Master
Naturalist and SC Master Gardener Programs, and Dr. Andrea Feeser,
Clemson Associate Professor of Art & Architectural History, for a
day long workshop exploring the history, culture and mysteries of the
indigo vat. Begin with a fascinating, informative talk on the social and
cultural history of indigo. Then spend time designing and dyeing your
own indigo creation.
All materials provided.

FANNING GARDEN EXPLORATIONS CAMP
Join us for an exciting summer day-camping
adventure for children ages 8-12. Garden Explorations brings science
discovery to life. Why do butterflies like to visit certain flowers?
Have you ever followed the path of a raindrop? What lives in the
garden's ponds and streams? Discover the answers to these questions and
others by participating in inquiry-based nature-based activities that
promote connection with the natural world. Garden Explorations
encourages kids to take a closer look, ask questions and use their
imaginations.

Yoga instructor Renee Warren Gahan and naturalist Sue Watts have
teamed up to present a unique fun camp for children aged 8-12. Begin the
morning with some fun yoga poses: be an eagle in a tree, a tall sunflower or a
stretchy caterpillar. We will learn
yoga postures and special breathing to help us be happy, healthy, and
well! After a snack we will explore the Garden, play nature based games
and activities, and do some art!

LIVE THE PAST!
History comes alive
in this week long camp for children aged 7-14. Spend mornings at the
Hunt Cabin learning the survival skills needed in the nineteenth
century. Learn how to build to build a cabin, cook over an open hearth,
track animals, make cloth, and much more.

CRUSTY BREAD AND CREAMY BUTTER
Imagine
the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting from your kitchen! Savor
cutting into the golden brown crust of your own loaf to reveal the
beautifully textured center within. In this morning class join local
home baker Neil Calkin to learn how to create perfect bread every time.
As the bread rises we will create some flavorful herb and spice butters
to go with your bread.

FAMILY SATURDAY: SEARCHING FOR SALAMANDERS, CATCHING CRAYFISH AND FINDING FROGS

a warm day splashing in and around the Garden's streams looking for
reptiles and amphibians. In the process we will learn more about the
ecology of these valuable habitats, and meet some of their other
inhabitants. Wear waterproof shoes. Pre-registration required- space
