Butterfly Garden

The Butterfly Garden was originally located on the hill in the Kelly Meadow across from the Fran Hanson Discovery Center. In order to create a better environment for butterflies and better education about the best plants to attract butterflies and other pollinators, the garden is being relocated to the Children's Garden (in development), located behind the greenhouses near the Peter Rabbit Garden.  The ground was broken for a new Garden in early August 2009, and a volunteer planting day will be organized for October 2009.

Butterflies can be found throughout the Garden. Many varieties enjoy the flowers planted around the Fran Hanson Discovery Center.  Stop by the Center for a list of local butterflies and to try to spot some of your own!

The Butterfly Garden has been made possible by several supporters, including the Lake and Hills Garden Club, the Carolina Butterfly Society, and John & Carolyn Turner.
