Needs/Activities: Assistance needed in areas of public relations, marketing, health and safety course instructors, speakers and meetings, help with special events and fundraising and assistance with general administrative duties. Projects could include, but are not limited to: developing a public relations plan, marketing our health and safety program, working on press releases, creating our annual report, working with our quarterly newsletter, creating databases, soliciting monetary and in-kind contributions, working with special event logistics, becoming a health and safety instructor to teach CPR and First Aid courses, coordinating community courses, and helping with the First Aid in Pickens County Schools programs.
Volunteer hours are generally available: Weekday-Daytime Hours
Orientation and training: All volunteers attend a general volunteer orientation which includes an overview of the American Red Cross, our local chapter structure and history, chapter services and volunteer opportunities. We also review the volunteer handbook which includes policies including dress code and volunteer responsibilities. At that time, the necessary paperwork is completed including agreeing to follow the terms set forth in our Code of Conduct. A more detailed training related to the volunteer's job duties is provided by the direct supervisor of the volunteer.
