Student Affairs Development Board

Mission

The Division of Student Affairs Development Board serves as an ambassador and engagement group supporting the philanthropic priorities of the Division of Student Affairs at Clemson University. The board works in partnership with the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) and the Development Office in elevating awareness of the division’s initiatives, inspiring philanthropic investment, and advancing the strategic priorities of the Division of Student Affairs and the university while helping deliver the #1 Student Experience at Clemson.


In carrying out this mission, the Student Affairs Development Board and its members will:

  • Support the VPSA and Development Office in advancing the philanthropic initiatives of the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Serve as ambassadors for the Division of Student Affairs and Clemson University by sharing the division’s strategic priorities, funding opportunities, and impact of Student Affairs on the Clemson student experience.
  • Use their personal and professional networks to help identify and engage prospective donors who may have an interest in supporting Student Affairs.

Responsibilities and Expectations of Members

  • Demonstrate philanthropic leadership in support of the division’s priorities by committing to an annual gift at the Leadership Circle level ($10,000) to a fund within the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Support the VPSA on the division’s fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist the VPSA and the Director of Development in identifying, contacting, and cultivating prospective donors in order to increase philanthropic support for Student Affairs and Clemson University.
  • Identify and cultivate at least two major gift prospects annually.
  • A major gift prospect at Clemson University is defined as an individual with the capacity and inclination to commit $10,000 or more annually for a minimum of five years, totaling $50,000 or more in philanthropic support.
  • Participate actively in Development Board activities making every effort to attend the two annual board meetings. Members are also encouraged to participate in additional Student Affairs events and engagement opportunities when possible.
  • Assist the VPSA and Director of Development in identifying and recommending potential candidates for future Development Board membership.
  • Host or assist in hosting at least one cultivation event or reception in their city of residence each year to help engage prospective donors and supporters of Student Affairs.
