Research interest:
My research focuses on understanding how trees and forests respond to disturbance. I look at responses at various scales. At the short time scale in individual trees, I study physiological responses of trees to high winds and flooding. Over longer time periods and larger areas, I study population and community responses to hurricanes and fires, and the role of invasive species in changing fire regimes. Most of my research occurs in tropical dry forests.
