The Clemson University Genomics Institute (CUGI) is a state of the art research/service facility located in the Upstate region of South Carolina, United States, at Clemson University. CUGI is involved in the development and distribution of genomic tools and services for the life science community. The Institute also performs research projects that focus on the discovery and functional analysis of important genes and genomic regions from plants, animals, microbes and humans using the specialized tools of genomics and proteomics. The application of these technologies to agriculture, human health and the environment will ensure continued improvement in crop productivity, environmental systems, and health care to meet the future needs of an ever-growing world population.
CUGI's mission is to advance fundamental Genomic and Proteomic research by providing products and services, develop collaborative research on and off campus, and perform outreach activities by providing training and education. |
THE GREENWOOOD GENETIC CENTER
The Greenwood Genetic Center works closely with the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs to provide diagnostic services, treatment and prevention programs to reduce the risk and severity of disabling conditions. We are a cohesive team, determined to break new ground in clinical service, laboratory and diagnostic testing, educational programs and research and we intend to lead the way into the 21st century with hope for every family at risk of genetic disease.
The Greenwood Genetic Center is a nonprofit institute, organized to provide clinical genetic services and laboratory testing, to develop educational programs and materials, and to conduct research in the field of medical genetics.

THE SOUTH CAROLINA DNA LEARNING CENTER
The mission of the South Carolina DNA Learning Center (SCDNALC) is to provide outreach education in modern genetics and biotechnology to K-12 teachers, non-formal educators, and students.
The goals of the SCDNALC are to increase the number of K-12 teachers and non-formal educators having basic competencies in biotechnology and genetics, enhance student accomplishment by providing classroom lessons and materials kits for modern genetics and biotechnology, to provide opportunities for middle and high school students to participate in genetics/biotechnology research and advanced courses with an interactive learning environment for students, teachers, and nonscientists.
The center also hopes to assist the public understanding of genetics and biotechnology, address heightened public awareness of agricultural practices using biotechnology, particularly at the rural/urban interface, introduce biotechnology learning activities to youth in after school and summer programs, prepare students to enter 21st century careers in biotechnology and/or to make informed decisions about biotechnology issues in everyday life and promote development of biotechnology businesses and ensure that these businesses have a well-educated and informed workforce and clientele.
