The EXPORT Center
The EXPORT Center is a center of Excellence in Partnerships for Community Outreach, Research on Health Disparities, and Training (EXPORT), supported by a grant from the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Institutes of Health.
The EXPORT Center has targeted obesity as a major contributing factor to chronic health conditions (e.g., cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes) that account for disparity trends that exist between racial/ethnic minority populations and majority CRHD Logopopulations.
The EXPORT Center is housed within the Center for Research on Health Disparities at Clemson University.
The EXPORT Center's mission is to empower racial/ethnic rural minority families and communities to reduce the burden of health disparities by helping them attain maximal health through culturally sensitive, community-based research, training, and outreach.
The EXPORT Center's vision is a S.C. in which health and healthy lifestyles are realized regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or geographic location. To achieve this vision, the Center targets rural areas in seven counties: Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, and Orangeburg in the lower part of the state, and Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens in the Upstate.
The EXPORT Center consists of four major core areas working together to achieve the Project Specific Aims:
