The mission of the Charles H. Houston Center for the Study of the Black Experience in Education is to examine and address issues as well as disseminate information about the Black experience in education in the State of South Carolina and throughout the United States.
The Charles H. Houston Center achieves its goals by conducting research and program evaluations, implementing educational programs, and pursuing collaborations and partnerships.
The Charles H. Houston Center develops, coordinates, and assesses the effectiveness of activities designed to inform, educate, and encourage individuals in South Carolina and around the world.
To achieve these goals, faculty and staff at the Charles H. Houston Center pursue the following tasks: (a) develop and implement programs, activities, and services aligned with the priorities of the Center; (b) collaborate with organizations to develop and implement programs and services; (c) collect, obtain, and analyze program evaluation data; and (d) pursue funding opportunities to develop and implement programs and services.
